Your safety matters to us. This page explains how allergen information works on MealApp and what you should do if you have a food allergy. Please read it carefully before you place an order.
MealApp is the app that connects you to the restaurant. We are not the kitchen. We do not cook, pack, or deliver your food. Each meal is prepared by an independent restaurant in Antwerp that uses our app to take your order.
Our Role vs. The Restaurant’s Role
Here is the simple truth about how food and safety work on our platform.
We build the app. We make the tools that let you find a restaurant, place an order, and pay.
The restaurant makes the food. They choose the ingredients. They cook the meal. They pack it and send it to you.
Every restaurant updates its own menu and allergen tags inside its dashboard at mealappmanager.com. They control every detail you see on the menu. MealApp cannot check or verify what happens inside their kitchens. We do not stand next to the chef. We do not read every recipe. That job belongs to the restaurant, and by law, it must be done by them.
Important Rules for Severe Allergies
Please read this part with extra care.
If you have a severe food allergy, ALWAYS call the restaurant directly before you place an order. Speak to a real person at the restaurant. Tell them exactly which ingredient you cannot eat. Ask them if the dish is safe for you.
Do not rely on the “Order Comments” box for allergy warnings. A busy kitchen on a Friday night can miss a small note on a printed ticket. A phone call is safer. A phone call means a real person heard you and can check the recipe before they cook.
If you cannot reach the restaurant by phone, please choose a different restaurant. Your health is more important than any single meal.
Cross-Contamination Warning
Restaurants cook many dishes in the same kitchen. They often share pans, knives, cutting boards, fryers, and work surfaces.
This means that even a dish that does not list an allergen may still touch small traces of it during cooking. For example, a pizza kitchen that also makes pasta may have flour dust in the air. A grill that cooks meat may share space with a grill that cooks fish.
Because of this, MealApp and the partner restaurants cannot promise that any meal is 100% free of a specific allergen. If your allergy is severe, please treat every shared kitchen with care.
For Our Restaurant Partners
This section is a reminder to every restaurant on our platform.
Under Belgian law and EU Regulation 1169/2011 (Food Information to Consumers), you have a strict legal duty to give exact and true allergen details for every item on your menu.
This means:
- List all 14 major allergens where they apply to a dish.
- Keep your menu tags up to date at all times.
- Train your staff to answer allergen questions by phone.
- Update your dashboard the same day you change a recipe.
MealApp is the software layer. You are the food business. The legal responsibility for allergen accuracy rests fully with you.

We will contact the restaurant and ask them to fix the issue right away. Your report helps keep every diner in Antwerp safer.
